Meet Our Board Of Directors

Hooman ‘Mo’ Tavakolian

Hooman ‘Mo” Tavakolian is Chief Compliance Officer at a hedge fund in NYC. He received his Master in Science of Law from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, an MBA from Long Island University, and a BA in Psychology from Hunter College where he placed in the conference and NY Collegiate States. Hooman wrestled for Hofstra University and Hunter College. Post-graduation, Hooman was the Assistant Coach at Hunter College for two seasons. He is a two-time Veteran National Champion. He is the founder of the Become Your Own Dream Scholarship, a scholarship fund that partners with Beat the Street NY. Hooman is an ambassador to wrestling with his close ties with the Iranian & Brazilian wrestling federations and national teams where he serves as the liaison on behalf of the Iranian Wrestling Federation, USA Wrestling and United World Wrestling (“UWW”).
Hooman launched Tavak Partners, a global strategic consulting firm that collaborates with government entities and non govt entities in bridging gaps between nations through sports. This has been very effective with Iran, Brazil, Bulgaria, Romania, and various international non for profit organizations. He works closely with the State Department and Non-Government Organizations (“NGO”) to promote and advocate gender equality in sports and Wrestling diplomacy.
He is a 2017 Peace and Sport ‘Diplomatic Action of the Year’ Nominee and 2017 USA National Wrestling hall of Fame inductee. He is a Board Member of Beat the Streets, a member of United World Wrestling (“UWW”) Sports for all Commission and is on the Audit committee of USA Wrestling.
Growing up in Long Island and facing financial challenges, he found gratitude and guidance in wrestling. He started his wrestling outreach program over 10 years ago, now called Hoomanities Inc.

Lorelei Martin-Tavakolian

Lorelei is a compliance executive in NYC and working mother of 3 children. She graduated with an MBA from Pace University and received her B.S. in Financial Management from Fordham University. She is proud of Hooman’s accomplishments and is honored to be a part of this Board.
